DAY 1: Yangon – Sittwe
Dinner

In the morning, your car will pick you up at the hotel in Yangon and transfers you to the airport according to your scheduled flight to Sittwe.

Your first day in Myanmar 5 days itinerary starts in Sittwe. Although the place was originally a small fishing village, it has become an important maritime trade center of Myanmar. More specifically, this place is also known as a large-scale rice export port after the British occupied Arakan (present-day Rakhine state).

Upon arrival, your private driver will pick you up at the airport lobby and takes you to visit the View Point Lighthouse (Farkir Point), a popular spot for tourists to take photos and enjoy the cool sea breeze. From the lighthouse, you can see the entire Baronga archipelago on the other side of the Kaladan River and even the lighthouse on Layshinedaung Island. Have dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Sittwe.

DAY 2: Sittwe – Mrauk U
Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner

After finishing breakfast, you’ll transfer to the jetty to board a local boat to Mrauk U, the capital of Rakhine in the 15th century. The journey will take around 5 to 7 hours depending on river conditions, you will probably arrive in the afternoon and switch to hotel check-in.

Mrauk U, which means “North Far” seems to be a fairly peaceful village today, but not so long ago it was the capital of the Arakan empire, where Portuguese, Dutch, and French merchants stood shoulders with the intellectuals of the Bengal and Mughal princes on the run. Mrauk U was declared the capital of the Arakan kingdom in 1431. As the city grew, many temples and shrines were built and are still maintained today.

You’ll visit the Htaukkhan Thein Temple, one of the most famous temples in the ancient city of Mrauk U of the Arakan people. The name means “Cross-Beam Ordination Hall”. Like most of Mrauk U’s Buddhist temples, it was designed with the dual purpose of being a ‘fortress-temple’. It is also considered one of the most military buildings in Mrauk U, built on high ground, with a single entrance and small windows.  Close your day by watching the sunset over the Kaladan River.

DAY 3: Mrauk U Sightseeing

The 3rd day in your Thailand 5 days itinerary will be a visit to the famous relics of Mrauk U. First, you’ll visit the most famous Shit-Thaung Pagoda, home to about 80,000 reliefs and sacred Buddha images. Then, continue to Laungbanprauk Pagoda, locals call it “Temple of Plates” because a wall in the front is clad with plate-like tiles of bright colors.

Have lunch at the restaurant, then you can stop at the museum, where keeping the ancient stone slabs with inscriptions and an interesting collection of Buddha statues in the Rakhine style. After leaving the museum, you’ll visit Shwe Taung Hill in the late afternoon to watch the sunset from above.

DAY 4: Explore Mrauk U Chin Village

On the last day in Mrauk U, you will arrive at Ngagya jetty to board a boat to Chin village on the nearby Lemro River. Along the way, you’ll see many shallow creeks surrounded by bamboo forests. Besides, you can also meet women who have tattoos on their faces because of their beliefs. Stop for about an hour in a few villages to meet the Chin people and learn more about their daily life.

DAY 5: Mrauk – Yangon
